Anna Bas Backer is a comic artist and a visual artist. Her career began with large paintings illustrating spaces and places devoid of humans. Whilst she first started experimenting with comics in documentary style drawings, she later went on to use comics to comment on and critize the work she did as an artist.
Anna is co-founder of the art collective Palatti, organizing art projects, residencies and exhibitions around the world since 2005. (Visit the website:
Palatti group). In 2010 she left the collective to be able to concentrate fully on her comics.
In 2008 she co-founded the comic blog collective 'Chicks on Comics'.
